Elevate Your Vision: The Cavago Difference
Every photography tour is an act of creation that begins long before the shutter clicks. Our process for our equine photography tours is one of deep intention, focusing on exclusivity and depth, bypassing the conventional and committing to locations that offer the intangible elements.
Your lens will document the essential truth and hidden emotional depth, telling a story that the naked eye alone cannot perceive. This is the heart of equine photography.
From historic arenas to quiet fields at sunrise, each site tells a story that connects photographer and subject in a way that cannot be planned. Every setting becomes part of the art, the essence of equestrian photography.
A Day at Yeguada de la Cartuja
One of those places is Yeguada de la Cartuja in Jerez, southern Spain. This isn’t just a stud farm. It is a piece of living history..png?width=785&height=981&name=Scotts%20blog%20(3).png)
The day breaks softly, but the quiet quickly shatters. As the Andalusian light cuts through the dawn, the air becomes charged with electric anticipation. The moment the magnificent stallions are brought to the arena, their calm, commanding presence is the prelude to an explosion.
The stallions are released into the vast, open fields, and in that instant, the frenzy breaks. The camera lowers, and it is the crucial stillness that allows you to anticipate, to truly see the image before you press the shutter: this is Andalusian horse photography in Jerez at its most elemental.
This shoot is organized with the support of Patricia, the manager here, who welcomes the group with warmth and care. She and her team manage the horses, set up the shoot, and coordinate our small-group equestrian photo tour, and even prepare a simple table of refreshments that soon becomes a gathering spot under the midday sun. Between photographs, we talk, learning about the farm’s traditions and the devotion that keeps them alive. Finally, we break off for lunch, departing the place with a ‘ hasta pronto’ as we will meet soon for the second photo shoot. This time, to capture one of the stallions again in the evening, at the historic Jerez Town Hall.
Day Two, Shoot Two
As evening approaches, we move into the heart of Jerez. .png?width=786&height=983&name=Scotts%20blog%20(4).png)
The next shoot unfolds at the town hall, where old-world architecture is the perfect setting for horse photography. The combination of stone, shadow, and movement creates a timeless and cinematic atmosphere.
It is the kind of setting that challenges photographers to see beyond composition and exposure, to translate emotion into image. When the day ends, we return to the hotel with full memory cards and even fuller hearts, ready to revisit what we’ve captured and share stories over local food and wine.
The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art
The next day brings one of the most anticipated parts of the journey, a visit to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. .png?width=786&height=983&name=Scotts%20blog%20(5).png)
This institution, one of only four of its kind in the world, keeps alive Spain’s centuries-old tradition of classical horsemanship, drawing equestrian photography tours from around the world
Guests are ushered on a private tour through the historic stables and training arenas, gaining insight into the delicate harmony between the horse and rider. This intimate visit reveals the sheer depth of care, centuries of history, and meticulous artistry woven into every precisely practiced movement.
The experience continues with reserved seating in the Royal Box for the school’s signature performance. Watching horse and rider move in absolute unison is not merely a spectacle; it is witnessing poetry in motion, a breathtaking display of equine elegance and discipline.
The tour does not conclude with the show, as an exclusive, fleeting moment awaits after lunch—a final surprise that grants you the ultimate, uncrowded photographic opportunity.
A Taste of Andalusia
To complement the artistry with flavor, participants can enjoy a meal at a two-star Michelin restaurant in Jerez*. The experience is elegant but approachable, reflecting our philosophy that luxury should never feel distant. It is a moment to pause, share impressions, and savor local dishes before returning to the rhythm of exploration.

As the evening sets in, the group gathers once more for a final shoot at the Royal School. A rider and horse move through the courtyard, framed by arches and golden light. The story of the day, the sounds, the scents, and the connection all find their way into the photographs.
Another Day, Another Dream Shoot.
The journey to Finca La Maloca, Clémence Faivre’s personal haven, is an essential part of the experience. The minute we turn onto the quaint road, we are immersed in a forest, the light softly filtering through the huge, shady trees. The magic has begun.
Clémence opens the door, revealing a home that instantly captivates. It feels like stepping inside a curated museum, filled with striking Totem poles and exquisite artifacts. The mood is set immediately: this place is as utterly fascinating as it is enchanting.
The Morning Shoot: The Private Performance.
The main event of the morning is an incredible opportunity—a private show in the main arena. Clémence appears alongside her magnificent Lusitano partner, ready to perform a breathtaking display of Haute École in complete freedom.
As she asks for the movements, a palpable silence descends. Every eye is fixed on the center of the arena as the star equestrian executes flawless movements: pirouettes, flying changes, and stunning passes, each captured with multiple clicks. Not just a photoshoot, it’s documenting a unique form of art.
Reflection and The Second Session
Following the awe-inspiring performance, the team is invited for an up-close conversation with Clémence. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, centered around a beautifully laid brunch. This is more than just a meal; it’s a moment for connection. The group learns about her as she shares insights into her pioneering career, discussing her philosophy on liberty work, the trust required, and the dedication needed to achieve such mastery. Hearing her story firsthand provides invaluable context and depth.
The team then prepares for the second shoot, armed with a deeper understanding of Clémence’s passion, artistic vision, and personality gained from the morning’s conversation. The photographers prepare to capture not just her image, but the essence of her alchemy with the horse. The second session moves beyond technical perfection to capture the soul of the artist.
Goodbyes at Finca La Maloca are definitely emotional, yet the energy of this incredible shoot prepares the group for a change of scene: the next adventure awaits as the group heads straight to the beach shoot.
The Experience Beyond the Camera
What defines a Cavago equine photography tour is far beyond mere access to extraordinary locations; it is the profound sense of immersion we provide. Every participant instantly becomes part of a layered story, one that seamlessly blends culture, history, and the highest level of art. Your camera transforms into a vital bridge, connecting you to people, to fleeting moments, and most importantly, between what your eyes observe and the lasting emotion you feel.
By the time the journey ends, each guest leaves not just with stunning images but with a deeper understanding of what makes photography so powerful, the ability to feel before you frame, to see beyond what is visible, and to let the world reveal itself one heartbeat at a time. This is the quiet craft that elevates equine photography.
